How to: Clean the adidas Yeezy 350 Boost V2 ‘Static’

If you’ve been having a tough time cleaning Yeezys, the guide below should give you some tips as well as a step by step process to ensure that you get the best results each time.

For our latest extreme clean video, we took on a sneaker that many of you have been asking to see; the adidas Yeezy 350 Boost V2 ‘Static.’ Since dropping in December 2018, the adidas Yeezy 350 ‘Static’ has gone on to be one of the most popular Yeezy sneakers; blending together a distinct Primeknit upper with the same familiar adidas Boost sole and unique reflective accents.

We sent Professor Shaz to carry out field research and put these Static Yeezys through a pretty gruelling time. Watch what happened to these Yeezys and how we put our Crep Protect Cure Kit to the test to restore them to their original look!

After leaving these Yeezy 350s for 24 hours, the results were pretty crazy. What once was a pair of box-fresh white Yeezys now looks like something out of a bad dream, with mud across the entire upper, sole and laces. Whilst it may seem that all hope is gone, you will see why the Crep Protect Ultimate Sneaker Cleaner solution is the best shoe cleaner for Yeezys out there.

Step One – Remove the Laces

To get the best results, and to make sure that all the dirt is gone, remove the Yeezy Boost laces from the shoe. Yeezy 350 laces are not like traditional flat laces, they are a much thicker rope style meaning that dirt can get into the material more. Take the laces out first and set them aside for cleaning later.

Step Two – Brushing Off Excess Dirt

Once you’ve opened you Cure: Ultimate Sneaker Cleaner pack, take the all-purpose brush and being to remove all the excess dirt. As you can see from the video, there was quite a lot of dirt that had solidified after the 24 hour drying off period. Make sure that you get as much of the dry dirt off as possible before you start to apply the Cure. This will make the process of cleaning sneakers much easier for you.

If you’ve been wondering how to clean Yeezy Boost 350s as well as Professor Shaz, the technique provided below will help you to get the best results when cleaning sneakers by hand.

Step Three – Get Your Cure Set Up

Knowing how to clean Yeezy 350s is a valuable tool for any sneakerhead. Now the excess dirt has been brushed off the sneaker you can begin to start the cleaning process.

Place warm water into a bowl and dip the brush bristles into the water for a few seconds. Take the Cure Solution and apply a few drops across the brush, making sure that the solution is spread out evenly.

Step Four – Starting the Clean

People often want to know how to wash Yeezys as it is seen as an easier option. However, if you do put your Yeezys in a washing machine, this could have damaging effects on the upper and the sole. Water can get between the glue that holds the upper and midsole together. The best way to clean Yeezys (or any other sneaker!) is by hand!

Take the brush and begin to make circular motions on the Primeknit, making sure that you push the dirt down away from the upper. Remember, the best way to clean adidas Yeezy 350 Boost V2s is to focus on one section at a time.

Start with the toe box of the adidas Yeezy 350 Boost ‘Static’ and then make our way around the entire sneaker in a clockwise rotation. By tackling the shoe section by section you ensure that you focus on getting the best results.

As the brush is used on the shoe, the unique Cure cleaning formula will create a foam which absorbs dirt and grime from the material it is being used on. The foam will bring the dirt out of the sneaker and shows that you are putting in the effort to get all the dirt out of your Yeezys!

If you feel that the foam is starting to fade then add more solution. It’s important to remember not to add too much of the solution as it is quite concentrated. Ensure that the brush is wet throughout the cleaning process, and as you move from section to section, dip the brush in water to rinse off excess dirt.

Remove the foam using the Crep Protect Microfibre Cloth and then make your way to the sole.

Step Five – Cleaning the Sole

This can be one of the trickier parts to get right so we’ll show you just how to clean the Boost material properly.

Dip your brush into the warm water and apply some more Cure Solution. Starting with the midsole, you can start to scrub the dirt away. Don’t be afraid to brush the midsole with a bit more elbow grease as it is not as sensitive as the Primeknit material.

Remove the excess foam from the sole and then repeat the process again.

Step Seven – Cleaning the Laces

Now you’ve cleaned the shoe, we can get back to cleaning the laces. The best way to clean the laces is by soaking them in the Crep Protect Cure Solution for a few minutes, draining all the dirt and liquid off and then repeating the process. By doing this, you are pulling the dirt of the material and draining the excess liquid off. Do this a few times and the laces will be looking brand new!

Step Eight – Leaving the Shoe to Dry

As most sneakerheads will know, it’s important to let the sneaker dry off. Store the sneakers in a cool, dry place and leave them for a minimum of twelve hours. and then take a look at the results.

Step Nine – All Done!

After all the hard work, you can now take a look at the results. As we said, Professor Shaz is one of the best sneaker cleaners we know and with his trusty Crep Protect Cure Kit, he tackled a sneaker that many would have thought was past the point of return.
